Date: 9/25/2006
Location:
Spaceport America, NM
Vehicle: SL-1
September
25, 2006 was our first attempt to send Antimatter
and Space2O
ingredients to space. Unfortunately the rocket, an UP Aerospace
SpaceLoft XL vehicle (space mission name SL-1) experienced an
anomaly shortly after launch and failed to make it to space.
While
we were all disappointed, we were not surprised. Getting to space
is still a difficult task and we knew this was a possibility.
So we headed out to the desert to help UP Aerospace recover what
was left of their vehicle and began planning for the next launch.
The
images and video below will provide you with insight into the
other side of the business. Sometimes things go wrong and you
just have to pick yourself up, fix the problem and move on.
